Redwings Horse Sanctuary
Redwings Horse Sanctuary began in May 1991 as a non-profit, 501 (c) (3) organization located in Carmel, California. Redwings' initial goal was to end the abuse, neglect, and slaughter of all equines including horses, ponies, donkeys, mules, and burros through rescue and foster care. To achieve this goal, Redwings representatives began visiting auctions and abusive equine homes, rescuing as many endangered animals as possible. In its first year alone, Redwings removed 15 equines from abusive and/or life-threatening situations. Redwings staff then rehabilitated the equines and matched them with carefully screened foster homes.

H.O.R.S.E. Rescue and Sanctuary
Chris and Mike Dodge
started H.O.R.S.E. Rescue and Sanctuary in 1993.
At that time they just took in one horse at a time and were self-funded. As time marched on and the demand to take in more horses grew, they decided to incorporate and file for their tax exempt status which was granted by the IRS in September of 1997. With the help of many volunteers and public donations the organization has saved over three hundred horses, placing most in good adoptive homes. Those horses that are deemed "unadoptable" due to age, health, or are too traumatized from abuse will remain in sanctuary for the remainder of their lives. Currently, the horses are being cared for in a facility in upstate New York.
Some are in foster homes.

The Mare & Foal Sanctuary
The Mare And Foal Sanctuary was founded in 1988 by Rosemary Kind, who has rescued and looked after horses and ponies all her life. In 1992 the Sanctuary became a Registered Charity, and has since rescued and found loving homes for a large number of ponies. The Sanctuary employs around twenty full-time members of staff, and is helped by many part-time volunteers. Our aims are not just to rescue neglected, unwanted or abused horses but when possible to rehabilitate, retrain and eventually rehome them into loving, knowledgeable environments.

Equus Sanctuary Horse Rescue and Animal Rights

True Innocents Equine Rescue (T.I.E.R)
TIER rescues abused, neglected, abandoned, and unwanted horses. We also work to find homes for horses that have fallen into the hands of horse traders on their way to an uncertain future. When funds allow, we purchase needy horses directly from low end auctions. Once a horse in our care has been rehabilitated (if needed) and is deemed "ready for a new home", we strive to find Safe, Responsible, Loving, Caring homes for them through our adoption program.

PMU Foal Adoption Network
PMU Foal Adoption Network, Inc. is a volunteer rescue group dedicated to helping minimize the number of PMU foals that go to slaughter each year . This is done primarily by facilitating the adoption of these foals into good homes. Secondarily, the group plans to educate the public about where the PMU-based drugs come from and to help individuals learn about the full range of treatment options available to them so that they may make an informed decision - with the assistance of their physician - on which treatment option is best for them.
